3,6-Nonadiyn-1-ol is the precursor to (E,Z)-3,6-nonadien-1-ol used in the flavour and fragrance industry for its sweet waxy, fresh green melon with fruity pear notes. 3,6-Nonadiyn-1-ol has also been utilized as an intermediate for insect pheromone synthesis.
